We are Pin Yen Marble & Granite Sdn Bhd and we’ve been in the stone industry since 2005. Our co-founder, Mr. Ngo Boon Huat has had 20 years of experience even before starting this company. He started at the very bottom 35 years ago working under Soon Seng, a marble and granite company founded by his very own father…

In his early 20s, he began to work and had the opportunity to go overseas to enhance his knowledge about stones. In 1985, he started his journey around the world from China, Italy all the way to Singapore, working in local factories, practicing and training to truly understand the specialties of various stones. He learnt the processes of turning blocks – that come from quarries – into both slabs and semi-finished products, before they are ready to be put on the market. From this experience, he has become very familiar with the risks that come with importing these unique stones. He came back putting what he learnt into practice and continued working under Soon Seng for another 20 years.

In 2005, he started his own company. Travelling all around the globe,

mostly visiting quarries in India, Italy and China, for an entire year always in search of new materials. He found that it is essential to recognize fractures, infiltrations and mineral inclusions inside the block, otherwise one runs the risk to obtain fragile, stained or defective slabs, after cutting. Obviously, each natural stone has its own unique characteristics and each block requires to be valued according to different criteria as well.

With his own space, he went through rough patches and obstacles that challenged his business. However, these challenges encouraged him to do better. From there, he continued growing his business to be a successful and leading company in the industry today. Mr Ngo with a wealth of experiences, skills and experiences continue to learn and acquire more knowledge from global partners.

To this day, Mr. Ngo appreciates the work he does and is still passionate about spreading the knowledge and beauty of stones. Pin Yen Marble and Granite has slowly connected with the younger generation and generously support students when they come to the factory to gain knowledge as he believes that education is an important element in this generation.
